(March 4, 2011) – Academy Award® nominated director, producer and writer Morgan Spurlock will receive the “CinemaCon Documentary Filmmaker of the Year Award,” it was announced today by Mitch Neuhauser, managing director of CinemaCon, which will be held March 28-31, 2011 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. Spurlock will receive his “CinemaCon Documentary Filmmaker of the Year Award” prior to a screening of his latest release “POM Wonderful Presents: The Greatest Movie Ever Sold” on Wednesday, evening March 30. The film is being released by Sony Pictures Classics on April 22.
“From his documentary debut with 2004’s ‘Super Size Me’ to his upcoming release ‘POM Wonderful Presents: The Greatest Movie Ever Sold,’ Morgan Spurlock continues to entertain and educate audiences around the globe with his thought provoking films,” noted Neuhauser. “We could not be more excited in having Morgan Spurlock be on hand to accept this honor, as well as having the opportunity to screen his film for our audience at CinemaCon.”

Releasing in select cities across the country on April 22, 2011 via Sony Pictures Classics, “POM Wonderful Presents: The Greatest Movie Ever Sold” sees filmmaker Morgan Spurlock exploring the world of product placement, marketing and advertising. Fully financed through product placement from various brands, all of which are integrated transparently into the film. The film was directed by Morgan Spurlock, written by Spurlock and Jeremy Chilnick. “POM Wonderful Presents: The Greatest Movie Ever Sold” was produced by Spurlock, Chilnick and Abbie Hurewitz through Spurlock’s production company, Warrior Poets along with Snoot Entertainment’s Keith Calder and Jessica Wu.
Morgan Spurlock is a New York-based writer, director and producer. Since the success of his first film, “Super Size Me”, Spurlock has directed projects including: “Where in the World is Osama Bin Laden,” “The Simpsons 20th Anniversary Special in 3-D on Ice!,” “Freakonomics” and the FX show “30 Days.”
