WASHINGTON D.C. (April 5, 2016) – Dave Franco will receive the “CinemaCon® Breakthrough Performer of the Year Award,” it was announced today by Mitch Neuhauser, Managing Director of CinemaCon. CinemaCon, the official convention of The National Association of Theatre Owners (NATO) will be held April 11-14, 2016 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. Franco will be presented with this special honor at the “CinemaCon Big Screen Achievement Awards” ceremony taking place on the evening of Thursday, April 14, at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, hosted by the Coca-Cola Company, the official presenting sponsor of CinemaCon.
“Since first grabbing the attention of audiences with his role in ’21 Jump Street,’ Franco has gone on to steal scenes in films such as ‘Neighbors,’ and ‘Now You See Me,’” noted Neuhauser. ”With anticipated follow-ups ‘Neighbors 2: Sorority House’, ‘Now You See Me 2’ and then ‘Nerve’ later on in the year, Franco is poised to breakout as a leading man this year and we are excited to be honoring him this year.”
This summer Franco can be seen returning in the Summit Entertainment, a K/O Paper Products production and Jon M. Chu film, “Now You See Me 2” arriving in theaters on June 10, 2016. The Four Horsemen (Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Franco, Lizzy Caplan) return for a second mind-bending adventure, elevating the limits of stage illusion to new heights and taking them around the globe. One year after outwitting the FBI and winning the public’s adulation with their Robin Hood-style magic spectacles, the illusionists resurface for a comeback performance in hopes of exposing unethical practices of a tech magnate. The man behind their vanishing act is none other than Walter Marry (Daniel Radcliffe) a tech prodigy who threatens the Horsemen into pulling off their most impossible heist yet. Their only hope is to perform one last unprecedented stunt to clear their names and reveal the mastermind behind it all.
In addition, this fall Franco will star opposite Emma Roberts in Lionsgate’s “Nerve” releasing on September 16, 2016. Industrious high school senior, Vee DeMarco (Roberts) has had it with living life on the sidelines. When pressured by friends to join the popular online game Nerve, Vee decides to sign up for just one dare in what seems like harmless fun. But as she finds herself caught up in the thrill of the adrenaline-fueled competition, the game begins to take a sinister turn with increasingly dangerous acts, leading her into a high stakes finale that will determine her entire future.
In addition to “Nerve” and “Now You See Me 2,” Franco is set to star alongside James Franco and Seth Rogen in “The Disaster Artist,” and will return alongside Seth Rogen, Zac Efron and Rose Bryne in the sequel to the hit comedy “Neighbors,” “Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising.” His additional film credits include “Warm Bodies,” “21 Jump Street,” “Now You See Me,” and “Unfinished Business.”
