< PreviousIt’s that time again—and it’s one of my favorite times of the year: when we kick things into high gear with our terrific partners in exhibition at CinemaCon. At this time last year, we were just starting to turn the world pink with Greta Gerwig’s Barbie, which as you know turned out to be Warner’s highest grossing film of all time and the highest grossing film of 2023. Now, coming off the success of such titles as Paul King’s holiday hit Wonka , which took in over $600 million worldwide, and Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Two, which is still drawing audiences to your screens, with a global box office soon to hit $600 million and counting, we’re back in Vegas to take you through our 2024 theatrical slate. Start your engines! Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga will be driving audiences to your screens in just over a month. From mastermind George Miller, this prequel to the successful, Oscar-winning M ad Max: Fury Road stars Anya Taylor-Joy in the title role, alongside Chris Hemsworth, Alyla Browne and Tom Burke in a story only director Miller could conceive of. Co-written by Miller and Nico Lathouris and produced by Miller and Doug Mitchell, the film returns us to the Wasteland in theaters and IMAX on May 24. Another hugely anticipated film comes to theaters this summer: Beetlejuice Beetlejuice —the long-awaited sequel to Tim Burton’s award-winning fan-favorite. Reuniting director/producer Burton with stars Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder and Catherine O’Hara, alongside Justin Theroux, Monica Bellucci, Arthur Conti, with Jenna Ortega, and Willem Dafoe, the film’s screenplay is by Alfred Gough & Miles Millar, story by Gough & Millar and Seth Grahame-Smith, based on characters created by Michael McDowell & Larry Wilson. The producers are Marc Toberoff, Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, Tommy Harper and Tim Burton. Beetlejuice Beetlejuice appears in theaters September 6. Fall delivers another eagerly awaited sequel, Joker: Folie Á Deux, the follow up to the hugely successful 2019 film Joker . You know Joaquin Phoenix returns to the role of Arthur Fleck, alongside Lady Gaga. Now, we’re keeping details under wraps, but of course Todd Phillips is back to direct from a screenplay written by Scott Silver & Phillips, based on characters from DC. Phillips also produces, along with Phoenix, Emma Tillinger Koskoff and Joseph Garner Cast. The cast also includes Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Zazie Beetz, Steve Coogan, Harry Lawtey, Leigh Gill, Ken Leung, Jacob Lofland, Bill Smitrovich and Sharon Washington. Joker: Folie Á Deux is only in theaters and IMAX October 4. In just a couple of weeks, visionary director Luca Guadagnino’s Challengers slams into your theaters, landing on April 26 nationwide from our partners at MGM, with Warner distributing internationally beginning April 24. Also coming in this summer from New Line is a pair of original films from director Kevin Costner. Horizon: An American Saga Chapters One and Two is a multi-faceted chronicle covering the Civil War expansion and settlement of the American West. A story of America too big for one film, this true cinematic event also stars Costner, who co-wrote with Jon Baird and produced through his Territory Pictures, with Howard Kaplan and Mark Gillard. In the great tradition of Warner Bros. Pictures’ iconic Westerns, the films explore the lure of the Old West and how it was won—and lost—through the blood, sweat and tears of many.
