Additionally, last year, Creed III became the highest grossing film of the Creed franchise and was the biggest domestic opening weekend ever for a sports film. SUNSHINE MIKE TREMBLE SHARI WEBERHey, CinemaCon! On behalf of the Angel Studios team, we are honored and excited to be here in sunny Las Vegas and to have the privilege of participating in CinemaCon this year. We are grateful for the opportunity we have had to work with you, our exhibitors and partners, to bring these great stories to life. It’s your hard work, and willingness to get on board with each of our films, that has brought us all resounding success over the past year. 2023 was a landmark year for Angel Studios. Our growing studio had the privilege of distributing some truly remarkable projects from unbelievably talented teams, and each was received by worldwide audiences with open arms. Alejandro Monteverde’s earth-shaking film Sound of Freedom —featuring Jim Caviezel— impacted every corner of the globe, and ushered in a new era of Angel Studios. This project was a $250 million box office smash, thanks to the willingness of our fantastic exhibitors to share it with your audiences worldwide. Stephen Gray’s After Death was the highest-grossing documentary since 2020. Just this last March, Alejandro Monteverde awed the world yet again with Cabrini , a powerful epic featuring Cristiana Dell’Anna and John Lithgow. Still thriving in theaters, this beautiful, Oscar-caliber film is proving to be yet another stunning box-office success for both Monteverde and Angel Studios. In addition to these box office successes, Angel Studios welcomed Shelley Schulz as our new Manager of Theatrical Film Sales. Her experience with AMC independent film, cinetopia film festival, and Art House convergence uniquely uplifted our team, and enabled us to navigate our kick-off theatrical year. The rest of 2024 at Angel Studios holds a diverse slate of inspiring stories, releasing on big holiday dates. Memorial Day will see the release of SIGHT, starring Terry Chen and Academy Award nominee, Greg Kinnear. SIGHT follows the incredible true story of an eye surgeon who draws upon the pain of his past to restore sight to the blind. Diverse audiences will find inspiration and hope in this powerful epic. On July 4, Possum Trot is set to greet audiences on the big screen. Starring Elizabeth Mitchell and Demetrius Grosse—and with executive producer Letitia Wright ( Black Panther)—this remarkable film follows a Texas congregation that resolved to make a real change in their local foster care system. The film’s planned release date of Independence Day will lend to the film’s themes of freedom, duty, and the unalienable rights of every individual of every age. November will mark the release of Bonhoeffer, a stunning thriller about one of WWII’s unsung heroes. Featuring Jonas Dassler, David Jonsson, and Flula Borg, this film is expected to reach far beyond the confines of your typical wartime epic. Audiences will marvel at the under-told story of a pacifist pastor who joins a plot to assassinate one of history’s most ruthless villains. We have some exciting projects in the works for 2025 and beyond. One project, in particular, will be one of Angel Studios’ most ambitious and high-caliber undertakings yet. David, a breathtaking animated film following the origin story of the famed biblical king, will be our studio’s grand entrance into the world of animation. We’ve partnered BRANDON PURDIE EVP and Head of Global Theatrical Distribution Angel Studios (Continued on back pages of The Studio Lot )Bleecker Street is excited to return to CinemaCon 2024. We are looking forward to presenting you with our upcoming films as we celebrate cinema and exhibition all week long. This Friday, we’ll be opening Sasquatch Sunset in select theaters, expanding nationwide on April 19. David and Nathan Zellner’s absurdist comedy follows four sasquatches (Riley Keough, Jesse Eisenberg, Christophe Zajac-Denek, Nathan Zellner) over the course of one year. The film premiered at Sundance this past January, and it is sure to be unlike anything you’ve ever seen. Next up will be Ezra, opening on May 31. Tony Goldwyn’s dramedy stars Bobby Cannavale alongside Rose Byrne, Robert De Niro, Vera Farmiga, Rainn Wilson, Whoopi Goldberg, and newcomer William A. Fitzgerald. Ezra follows Cannavale’s Max, a stand- up comedian living with his father (De Niro) while struggling to co-parent his autistic son Ezra (Fitzgerald) with his ex-wife (Byrne). When forced to confront difficult decisions about their son’s future, Max and Ezra embark on a cross-country road trip that has a transcendent impact on both their lives. Ezra is an endearing and often funny exploration of a family determined to find their way through life’s complexities with humor, compassion, and heart. Treasure premiered at this year’s Berlinale Special Gala and will arrive in theaters on June 14. The tragicomedy based on Lily Brett’s novel “Too Many Men”, follows Ruth (Lena Dunham) and her father, Edek (Stephen Fry), a Holocaust survivor, as they journey back to his homeland: Poland. Both emotional and funny, Treasure is a powerful example of how reconnecting with family and the past can be an unexpected treasure. This summer, Jocelyn Moorhouse will be returning to the director’s chair with The Fabulous Four, opening nationwide July 26. The film follows three lifelong friends (Susan Sarandon, Megan Mullally, and Sheryl Lee Ralph) who travel to Key West to be bridesmaids in their college friend’s wedding (played by Bette Midler). Over the course of the trip, sisterhoods are rekindled, the past rises up once more, and there are enough sparks, drinks and romance to change all of their lives in ways they never would have expected. To wrap up the summer, we have Slingshot on August 23. The film is a space-set thriller with Casey Affleck, Laurence Fishburne, and Emily Beecham. Affleck plays an astronaut who struggles to maintain his grip on reality aboard a possibly fatally compromised mission to Saturn’s moon, Titan. We have a few more films to look forward to this fall. The Return, a retelling of Homer’s Odyssey starring Ralph Fiennes and Juliette Binoche. Mike Leigh’s Hard Truths , which will explore family relationships in the post-pandemic world. There is also Rumours , a dark comedy directed by Guy Maddin, Evan Johnson, and Galen Johnson, produced by Ari Aster’s Square Peg, and starring Cate Blanchett and Alicia Vikander. Finally, we have fackham hall , a spoof on Downton Abbey, which we expect to release early 2025. We look forward to the opportunity to show you all that’s in store for Bleecker Street. Wishing everyone a great week at CinemaCon 2024! KYLE DAVIES President of Distribution Bleecker StreetNext >
