Your dedication to the art and business of theatrical exhibition is the heartbeat of this industry, and it is an honor to gather together for this extraordinary week of learning, celebration, and inspiration. Each year, CinemaCon stands as a testament to the passion and commitment of exhibitors, studio and vendor partners, and industry leaders who make moviegoing an unparalleled experience. Your tireless efforts, from managing cinemas to advocating for the magic of the big screen, shape the future of theatrical exhibition. Simply put: without you, there is no show. We recognize that the past years have tested our industry in ways we could never have anticipated. Yet, here we are—stronger, bolder, and more determined than ever. Just as Elphaba and Glinda sing in Wicked , “Together we’re unlimited.” Our organization’s new name speaks to that truth. Through collaboration, innovation, and a shared love for cinema, we continue to elevate the theatrical experience, proving that nothing can replace the magic of watching a film on the big screen. The power of that communal experience was eloquently captured in Sean Baker’s 2025 Best Director Oscar acceptance speech, where he reminded us, “Watching a film in a theater with an audience is an experience. We can laugh together, cry together, scream and fight together, perhaps sit in devastated silence together. And in a time in which the world can feel very divided, this is more important than ever. It’s a communal experience you simply don’t get at home.” Your work ensures that audiences across the globe continue to have that opportunity—to laugh, to cry, to be inspired, to be transported, and to come together. We extend our deepest gratitude to all of you who volunteer your time, insight, and expertise to Cinema United. Whether you are an Executive Board member, a committee member who has spent time planning, reviewing documents, and analyzing data, a Cinema United Ambassador who has helped welcome new members into our organization, or someone who reads our emails and responds to our surveys, we couldn’t do it without you. Moviegoing is our mission, and you make that mission attainable. Your contributions make our organization and this event an unparalleled success, and your efforts strengthen our industry as a whole. This week is a celebration of you—your passion, your perseverance, and your belief in the power of theatrical. As you navigate the panels, studio presentations, and trade show booths, we hope you find inspiration, forge meaningful connections, and leave CinemaCon more energized than ever. Start your odyssey at Milano 1 Technology that loves cinemaOn behalf of The Cinema Foundation, we are excited to welcome you to another incredible CinemaCon! This week is all about celebrating you—the theater owners, operators, suppliers, studio partners, filmmakers, and talent who make the theatrical experience possible. CinemaCon is a time to connect, collaborate, and look ahead to the future of our industry. Last year, we announced a new mission: strengthening the cinema industry and engaging audiences . Over the past year, we’ve worked hard to bring this vision to life—supporting exhibitors, elevating audience engagement, and reinforcing the value of the theatrical experience. One of our biggest initiatives this year is the @theMovies Campaign, which launched on National Popcorn Day (January 19, 2025) and continues throughout the year with: • Sneak Peek Saturday – April 19 • Date Night at the Movies – August 15 • Family Day at the Movies – November 9 These events highlight the unique experiences that only theaters can offer, from the excitement of a first look at upcoming films to the shared joy of moviegoing with loved ones. By working together, we can inspire audiences to rediscover the thrill of watching movies in theaters and make these nationwide celebrations a success. To further these efforts, we’ve expanded our team with top-tier talent, including Beth Janson (former COO at TIFF and Executive Director of the Tribeca Film Institute) and Brandon Lowitz (former Head of Partnerships at Tribeca Film Festival). Their expertise will help us build impactful brand partnerships and sponsorships that drive consumer engagement and excitement for theatrical experiences. In an evolving entertainment landscape, these collaborations are more important than ever in keeping moviegoing at the center of cultural conversations. Our commitment to data and research remains strong, ensuring we provide the industry with key insights to navigate the changing marketplace. We continue to fund and produce essential reports like “The Exhibition Outlook” and “The Strength of Theatrical Exhibition.” We are also deepening our investment in education and training through our partnership with ICTA, ensuring that our industry remains innovative and forward-thinking. We believe that access to high-quality research and professional development is critical in shaping the future of exhibition. The Cinema Foundation exists to support and serve the entire industry—but we can’t do it alone. As a nonprofit organization, we rely on your generosity to continue our work. If you believe in the power of cinema, we invite you to join us by making a pledge or donation. Every contribution helps us advance initiatives that benefit exhibitors, audiences, and the entire cinematic ecosystem. Thank you for your dedication to this industry. Your passion, creativity, and resilience continue to drive moviegoing forward. Let’s make 2025 a year of growth, innovation, and success! See you @ the movies! BRYAN BRAUNLICH Executive Director The Cinema Foundation Welcome to CinemaCon 2025!“We all fell in love with movies at some point. We were all in the dark when we saw something that…made us see a perspective we never thought before and opened a culture that we never believed existed before.” These words from Jon M. Chu, acclaimed Wicked director and 2025 MPA Creator Award recipient, tap into something poignant, powerful, and piercing about cinema: how movies transport us, over the rainbow or to galaxies far, far away. How theaters open our eyes to new experiences, ideas, and insights. How great films, told by extraordinary storytellers, shared with captive audiences, alter the way we understand the world around us, our societies, our communities. Even ourselves. Every day, this spirit of creativity forges common ground among moviegoers across the country and around the world. Each year, this unifying force of moviemaking courses through the halls of CinemaCon. On behalf of the Motion Picture Association and our member studios, it is always an honor to be back in Las Vegas for this celebration of our industry and its ability to inspire viewers, impact communities, strengthen economies, and change perspectives. As we gather once again, the state of our industry is defined by a combination of clear progress, vast opportunities, and big challenges. There are, of course, the undeniable economic benefits of production. Regardless of emerging trends, technologies, or other factors, our industry remains a source for growth and prosperity domestically and globally. In fact, whenever a major motion picture comes to town, it adds $1.3 million per day to the local economy, supporting local businesses and employing thousands of local workers who earn 64% more than the national average. All of that helps fuel economic dynamism worldwide. Indeed, despite a host of headwinds confronting your theaters, new MPA research shows that last year’s global box office market remained over $30 billion, led by the United States, Canada, India, France, and China. Then there’s the work we do, alongside our partners at Cinema United to advance policies that support your theaters at the local, state, and federal levels. We’re keeping our fingers on the pulse of everything from production incentives that enable filmmakers to shoot in a wide variety of local communities; to efforts to detect, deter, and dismantle the threat of digital piracy; to work around tech, copyright, intellectual property, free expression, artificial intelligence, and so much more. Finally, there’s the unmistakable twists and turns facing theaters, creators, studios, casts, and crews. We all see the lingering effects of the pandemic, the strikes, the wildfires, or simply the changing nature of how audiences consume content. Yet no matter what, one immutable fact persists: people’s desire to gather as communities and, when the lights go down, open their eyes to different cultures, go on journeys unexpected and profound, and fall in love with movies all over again. That is the heart of what fuels CinemaCon each year, driven by the studios I’m proud to represent and the theaters that help bring movies to life. I look forward to discussing these topics with you all in the coming days. CHARLES H. RIVKIN Chairman & CEO Motion Picture Association Falling In Love With Movies All Over AgainNext >
